At Chevrolet, drivers are beginning to take advantage of features
that are typically only on smart phones to make their experience safer,
more efficient and more enjoyable. Siri Eyes Free* is already available via iPhone for owners of Sonics and Sparks equipped with available Chevrolet My Link**;
voice commands enable drivers to do things like compose texts or send
emails to contacts stored in their phones, so hands stay on the wheel.
Even the experts are impressed. “Cabin tech interfaces receive a
lot of criticism for being clunky, ugly and slow, but Chevrolet may
have cracked the code,” Wayne Cunningham of CNET’s Car Net says of Chevrolet MyLink.
How many times have you passed a nice-looking restaurant—or a
scenic, winding road—you’ve wanted to explore but couldn’t, because you
were on your way to work or some other pressing obligation? And,
following that, how many times have you completely forgotten where those
places were? If I had a dime for every time this has happened to me,
I’d be able to hire someone to remember these things for me.
Enter the newest generation of the MyLink system. When equipped with BringGo***,
it looks and feels very much like a smartphone. It has the ability to
bookmark locations you encounter on the go that you don’t have time to
visit at the moment but would like to return to—or places you know and
love that you want to recommend to friends. In the same way you use
bookmarking with your internet browser, you can save locations to
“browse” later, when you’re not so busy or it’s more convenient.
The ability to bookmark while on the road introduces a whole new
paradigm to the driving experience. Bookmarking technology outsources
both the recording and the remembering for us: Our cars do the grunt
work, and give us instantaneous future access to the information they’ve
stored whenever we want it. No more getting lost trying to find a place
you think you remember.
It’s an elegant, efficient and intuitive way to apply modern connectivity to cars.
Keep an eye out for updates on the next generation of Chevrolet
technology, so you can be a part of the next wave. Driving is becoming a
whole new ride.
