Take a Bite out of Shark Week with Chevrolet's Mako Shark I
Fin-ish Shark Week with a look into Chevrolet's 1961 Mako Shark. Built as a teaser vehicle until the release of the second-generation Corvette in 1963, Chevrolet was able to pull style elements from the carnivorous fish and construct what is today known as the Chevrolet Mako Shark I/ XP-755. Named after a fish caught by Chevy's chief of design, Bill Mitchell, the speedy Mako was equipped with "gills" on the front fenders and a "pointed snout" or hood. If you're not hooked on Shark Week, maybe this vehicle will reel you in!
